The Minister of General
Education and Instruction, Hon. Dr. Kuyok Abol Kuyok met Dr. Khaled El-Enany,
the new Director General for UNESCO in Paris, France today on 12 March, 2026;
where he presented a congratulatory letter from HE Salva Kiir Mayardit, the
President of South Sudan to the Director General.
They also discussed South
Sudan’s nomination for inscription of the Boma-Badinglio Migratory Landscape
(BBML) as a UNESCO World Heritage list in its emergency meeting in South Korea
in July 2026.
The Minister took the
opportunity to request UNESCO’s IBE support for establishment of the Curriculum
Development Centre (CDC) in Maridi.
Dr El-Enany appreciated
HE the President’s message and accepted his invite to visit South Sudan. More
importantly, he pledged UNESCO’s support to South Sudan’s nascent education
system, saying ‘count on us!’, reaffirms UNESCO’s commitment to supporting
government educational programme!
