The Minister of General Education and Instruction, Hon. Abol Kuyok Abol,
today officially launched a pioneering Space Science Education
Initiative for schools, supported by Mayardit Space Academy,
at the University of Juba.
The initiative seeks to introduce space science and astronomy into the
school curriculum, inspiring young learners to explore science, technology, and
innovation. It will provide training for teachers, interactive learning
materials, and outreach activities designed to spark students’ curiosity about
the universe.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Abol emphasized that investing in science
education is vital for preparing South Sudanese youth to participate in global
technological advancement. “This initiative is not just about space, it is
about opening doors for our students to dream bigger and contribute
meaningfully to the future of our nation,” he said.
Mayardit Academy representatives pledged continued support in equipping
schools with learning resources and fostering partnerships with international
institutions to strengthen space science education in South Sudan.
The event brought together government officials, educators, students, and
development partners, all united in celebrating this milestone towards
advancing science and education in the country.
