The long-awaited Senior Four examination results for 2024 were finally
released by the Minister of General Education and Instruction, Hon. Abol Kuyok
Abol, during the 21st Ordinary Meeting of the National Examination Council held
at the Juba Grand Hotel. The announcement, greeted with relief and excitement,
brought closure to thousands of students and families across South Sudan who
had been anxiously awaiting their academic fate.
In his address, Minister Abol commended the
resilience of learners, teachers, and parents who persevered in the face of
numerous challenges confronting the education sector. He noted encouraging
progress in certain subjects but also underscored the urgent need to strengthen
performance in critical areas such as science and mathematics.
The Minister urged candidates who excelled to
remain focused as they transition into higher education and vocational
training, while reassuring those who did not achieve their desired results that
this setback should serve as a foundation for renewed effort and determination.
“This achievement reflects the commitment of
our learners and the dedication of teachers across the nation. At the same
time, it reminds us of the pressing need for continued reforms to improve the
quality of education,” Hon. Abol emphasized.
Addressing the nearly year-long delay in
releasing the results, the Minister apologized to students, parents, and
schools, acknowledging the frustration caused by the unprecedented setback. He
explained that the delay was linked to financial challenges that hindered the
timely processing of examinations.
“I sincerely regret the delay and pledge that
we are establishing mechanisms to ensure such a situation does not occur again.
Today, I am proud to say that despite the obstacles, we have succeeded,”
Minister Kuyok assured.
He went on to express gratitude to His
Excellency the President for his steadfast support to the education sector and
congratulated students for their patience and perseverance during the long
wait.
With the official release of the results,
thousands of Senior Four candidates across the country can now confidently plan
their next steps in education and career development, marking a new chapter in
their academic journey after a prolonged period of uncertainty.
