The
South Sudan Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) examinations for the 2025
academic year officially commenced today, Monday, 24 November, and will
conclude on Saturday, 29 November 2025. The exams began with the English
Language paper and will end with Mathematics, with each paper scheduled for 2
hours and 30 minutes.
A
total of 84,815 candidates are sitting for this year’s CPE exams, comprising
45,545 males (54%) and 39,269 females (46%), registered across 1,953 schools
and 551 examination centers nationwide. This represents an 18.2% increase
compared to last year’s 70,010 candidates, signalling growing access to primary
education.
The
official launch took place at Juba Day Primary School, where H.E. Hon.
Josephine Lagu, Vice President for the Services Cluster, rang the bell to mark
the start of examinations across the country. She extended her best wishes to
all candidates.
Hon.
Dr. Kuyok Abol Kuyok, Minister of General Education and Instruction, also
encouraged learners to rely on their preparation and avoid malpractice,
emphasizing that cheating will result in disqualification. He commended
teachers for their dedication and thanked H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit
for prioritizing education despite economic challenges.
Dr.
Kuyok further announced that the 2026 academic year will begin on 2 February
2026, assuring timely marking of exams to facilitate smooth transition to
secondary school.
